I Was The Progammer And Game Generalist
My tasks included designing and programming the gameplay loop. I programmed room scaling to the play area, NPC pathfinding in non-geometric space, NPC behaviour, dialogue system and implemented feedback to player. The VR game was in context of a procedurally generated self-overlapping maze that allows the player to physically walk within their specific play area. The game was designed based design pillars.
This Was Part Of My Master Thesis Project
While I had previous worked on procedurally generated mazes that self-overlapped in VR, now the focus was to make it available for smaller play areas and ensure it is still comfortable for game and user experiences. The approach was first find out how much we could squeeze the maze down, then develop and include the game Apollo Arises into the maze, and see if this squeezed maze was still comfortable to navigate through with a game.
